Personal Profile
Kyle Smith is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist working primarily in film and music originally from Humboldt County, CA. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Cinema Arts at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema in Brooklyn, NY and playing in an alternative rock band, Tether, in and around New York City.

Kyle made his first film at 6-years old (an adaptation of "Rumpelstiltskin") and cites his Grandpa as the person that got him into cinema: "When I was extremely young, my grandpa would have me watch films sitting on his knee in his “screening room” (which was really a study he had hung a projector in). From what I’ve been told, the ones I was the most willing to sit through were Fantasia, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Soylent Green. I think I liked the vivid color sequences in these films. Anyway, whether conscious or not, I think this is when I first started to get the filmmaking worm in my brain."
Kyle is currently developing a short about the existence of God which blends documentary and fiction, and a feature-lengthed multi-perspective screenplay (with Yi Xiwen) about the failure of a marriage (to be shot in split screen). Kyle is interested in films which explore human psychology and push the boundaries of the medium.
